2 week reflection

For my 2 week project, I wanted to try to keep my work relatively simple and I did this by continuing with focusing on rudimentary practices of early humans. I wanted to focus on the simplicity of the purpose of dance and how it was used as a form of expression. To do this, I researched early dance practices and learned that dance was the first branch of the arts, stemming from its use of costume and movement. This inspired me to create simple dance costumes based on music I listened to. The reason I did this exercise was because I wanted to focus on the movement of the music, and get out of the mindset of creating something purposeful. Doing the exercise helped me visualize what kind of costumes I would create and how they would work.

My next step was trying something new, and that was screen printing. I was intimidated by the process because of the fact that I had never tried it before, but it was a lot easier than expected. Another experiment I did was doodling with lines that could not touch each other. Nothing of use came from this, but I pushed myself to do it because I wanted to test the result of doodling because it is a medium I don’t usually work with. I was happy with my final result of screenprinting and paired it with the designs I made.
